“Banky W’s Record Label Kicked Me Out of the House” – Skales

Nigerian Singer Skales Opens Up About Financial Struggles After Leaving Banky W’s Record Label

In a recent interview with Lagos’s Beat 99.9 FM, singer Skales, whose real name is Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, shared the challenging transition he experienced after parting ways with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) record label.

Skales recounted how, following the expiration of his recording contract with EME, he found himself without a place to stay and resorted to sleeping in his car. He claimed that EME management had evicted him from their apartment, leading to a dramatic shift from a life of luxury to financial hardship.

The singer, known for hits like “Shake Body,” revealed that during this challenging period, he even contemplated moving abroad. However, against all odds and with no financial resources for promotion, the song “Shake Body” became a massive success and transformed his life.

He said, “When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car. As soon as my deal ended, I lost the house, they told me to leave the house immediately.

“All I had was one car, a Ford Explorer. And I was sleeping inside the car for a long time. Little did I know that I had a song that was going to change my life on my flash drive. So months later, I just put out the song .

“I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa . Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed.”
