The Organizers of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) Unveil 2023 Nominees, With Nigerian Artists Making Their Mark
Leading the pack in nominations are American musicians Taylor Swift, with a staggering eight nods, and SZA, not far behind with six.
This year’s list includes 35 first-time nominees, featuring artists like GloRilla, Ice Spice, Flo Milli, among others.
Notably, the VMAs have introduced a new Afrobeat category for the first time in their history, with Nigerian artists dominating the nominations. The only non-Nigerian nominee in this Afro-centric category is Cameroonian-American singer Libianca.
