Peter Okoye Reacts as ECOWAS Orders Standby Force against Niger Junta

Renowned Nigerian singer and one-half of the P- square, peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has expressed strong disapproval of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) decision to deploy its standby force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger. He referred to this move as “total madness.”

ECOWAS, led by President Omar Alieu Touray, made this resolution during an extraordinary meeting held in Abuja. However, Mr. P took to his verified Twitter handle to voice his criticism, accusing ECOWAS of aligning with the West to intervene in the affairs of fellow Africans.

This statement by Mr. P reflects his passionate stance on the situation in Niger and his concerns about ECOWAS’ approach to resolving the crisis. It highlights the complexities and differing opinions surrounding the issue of external intervention in African nations’ internal affairs.

He wrote, “Africa joins the west to fight Africa. Total madness.”
